We’re thrilled to announce a significant and exciting change! From now on, what was traditionally National Care Leavers Week will officially become National Care Leavers Month!
Care experienced individuals have decided that a week is not enough time to celebrate their fantastic achievements and to highlight all the key issues that people need to be aware of, so… November will now be National Care Leavers Month from now on #NCLM.
This expansion from a week to a month gives us even more time and opportunity to shine a brighter spotlight on the experiences, successes, and ongoing needs of care-experienced individuals across the country. Get ready for a full month of events, discussions, and celebration dedicated to our incredible care leaver community.
What Happens Next?
This exciting change didn’t happen overnight. A dedicated group of professionals and care-experienced individuals, all involved with the Alliance for Looked After Children and Care Leavers, have been meeting regularly since January. Their hard work has included creating a comprehensive consultation to determine the ideal dates and theme for this year’s National Care Leavers Month.
The group is now in the final stages of finalizing the theme, designing new logos, and pulling together all the essential details. We’re excited for them to report back with their plans in June. So, definitely watch this space for more updates!
Remember to Celebrate!
In the meantime, please “Remember, Remember to Celebrate Care Experienced People in November!”
