In Their Own Words Event: Booking Now Open

YPBMF’s In Their Own Words Event is back for a third year.  Hosted by care experienced young people, the event will take place online between 11am-1pm on Friday, 12th July.

This event is aimed at Senior Policy and Decision Makers across government, local authorities and the third sector including MPs, Lead Members, DCSs, Policy Leads.

Care experienced young people from YPBMF will be highlighting key messages about 5 topics they have selected as areas needing action:

– Cost of Living

– Safe and affordable accommodation

– Access to health and mental health

– Support post 21 and 25

– Creating communities of support for care leavers

Key messages for local and national action will be developed from the findings of our ‘In Their Own Words’ survey which we are launching in May on the five topics.

We are delighted to announce that Councillor Jon Hubbard, Vice-Chair of the LGA’s Children & Young People’s Board will be speaking as part of this event.

Last year, we welcomed over 280 attendees to our ‘In Their Own Words’ Event – you can read the blog and watch the videos of last year’s key messages Here.  We know that improvements for care experienced young people took place as a direct result of the key messages heard on the day, including the launch of a number of Care Leaver Hubs across the country.

During the event, we will be inviting attendees to discuss what they have heard and to make a pledge about what they can do to make a difference in their sphere of influence.
