The Alliance for Looked After Children & Care Leavers and care experienced individuals from across the country are working together to share ideas, collaborate, and coordinate some planned activities for this year’s National Care Leavers Week and promote events taking place across the country.
Below are details of the theme, shared images that can be used & how you can promote your #NCLW events:
Why does #NCLW exist?
National Care Leavers’ Week exists for the public, professionals, carers, decision-makers and the media to come together to CARE:
Celebrate: care leavers/care experienced individuals.
Amplify: their voices.
Raise: awareness of challenges.
Encourage: change in policy and practice.
Theme for #NCLW:
During workshops, care experienced individuals and various organisations came together to come up with three starting ideas on what this year’s theme would be for #NCLW. With close to 200 votes from care experienced individuals across the country, the theme was decided.
“All of Us, We are One”
“I picked “All of Us, We are One” as when I am with other care leavers I really do feel the most understood. I really do feel like we are one.” (Care Experienced Individual)
The theme highlights the value of creating connections. Help us to build a stronger community with care experienced individuals.
We encourage you to use the attached theme images on your social media, websites, email signatures and anywhere else that can raise the profile of NCLW this year.
