In Their Own Words 2024 – Cost of Living Report
In June 2024, over 200 care experienced individuals from around the UK took part in our “In Their Own Words Survey”

The survey was coproduced with the Young People’s Benchmarking Forum (YPBMF) and contained questions on 5 key themes, chosen as priority areas by care experienced young people.  The Cost of Living was one of the areas we decided to go back to explore and see how care experienced were coping with the continuing crisis.

Our reports have been co-produced with our YPBMF Champions and Legends (care experienced volunteers) who have shared their views on the responses to survey.

Mark YPBMF Champion – “…for care experienced young people costs are still increasing and benefits or wages not keeping up with today’s prices and we have limited support networks to fall back on when times are tough… I hope this report helps you understand what it would be like to walk in our shoes and helps you think about what you can do to help change our lives…”
